Abstract
Thank you for your interest in multicultural education in Alaska! This book provides an overview of Southeast Alaska, and includes several diverse lesson plans pertaining to the region. Our content was developed through a project-based study of Multicultural Education and Alaska Studies through the UAS MAT secondary education program. The title is an adaptation of “Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” - John Muir quoted by Samuel Hall Young in Alaska Days with John Muir (1915) chapter 7
