Abstract
Spinning Blue Empties is a 112,000 word science fiction novel of which the first half is presented here in partial fulfillment of the requirements for an MFA in Creative Writing. The story poses two questions. If you could be augmented technologically until you reached practical omniscience, would you be willing to give up such power to save humanity? And if so, how would you adapt to your return to an ordinary life? The novel examines what it means to become a god, what it means to be human, and which form redemption takes if you are both the god and the human seeking it.
